RESIDENTIAL DESIGN
INCLUSIVE HOME
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The objective for this project was to renovate this recently purchased house for clients Zara and Sam, with a focus on creating an inclusive and functional living space that addresses Zara's mobility challenges. The idea is to create a home that not only meets Zara's requirements but also reflects the client's individual style and preferences. The Budget for this Project is mid-level cost range that permits stylish selections while being mindful of the overall project budget.
DESIGN SOLUTION
The final design solution is an inclusive home that allows the client to live comfortably and function without strain. The final design solution is designed in a farm-style manner and makes use of neutral tones with pops of colour every here and there. To make the space inclusive elements of the original space were adjusted, for example, stairs were changed into ramps so that if the client needs to use a wheelchair, she will be able to without limitations. The vanity in her bathroom is floating so that if need be, a wheelchair can fit underneath. The kitchen was designed with a pull-out countertop and pull-out shelves. the kitchen counter was also designed with different heights so that if she needs to stand with crutches or sit in a wheelchair she will have the option. the bathroom was also designed with grab rails in both the shower and next to the toilet. additionally, there is a bench in the shower for the client to rest if need be. Some doors were changed to sliding doors to make it easy for her to open and close.
