OFFBEAT MARA
TENTED CAMP DESIGN
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project involved the revamp and refresh of Offbeat Mara, one of two properties under Offbeat Safaris in the Mara North Conservancy. The goal was to preserve its authentic safari tented camp character while introducing a fresh, modern feel.
I worked closely with the client throughout the entire design process, from concept development to sourcing and selecting furniture, fittings, fabrics, finishes, and décor. All furniture was custom designed and made specifically for the project to ensure a unique and cohesive result.
The design focused on keeping the base elements neutral and timeless, including wooden flooring, natural canvas tents, and soft roof linings, while bringing personality into the spaces through bold fabrics, vibrant patterns, curated artwork, and distinctive furniture design. Finishes such as antique brass were chosen to maintain the classic safari aesthetic and enhance the camp’s authenticity.
The scope included the redesign of the double tent, family tent, mess area, and a new curved bar designed as a welcoming social space for guests to relax and connect throughout their stay.
